Hi Finance Technologies Inc

Terms of Service

Last updated: July 9, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Hi Finance Technologies Inc. (“Hi Finance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of our mobile app, website, and related services (together, the “Services”).

By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

2. Who can use hi finance

You must be 18 years of age or older to use the Services. We verify age at signup using the date of birth you provide.

The Services are designed for post-secondary students in Canada outside of Quebec. International students can create accounts, but some features are limited for them, and we communicate those limitations in the product.

3. What hi finance is, and what it is not

Hi Finance is a software platform that helps you find grants you may be eligible for and guides you through applications. We also provide budgeting and financial literacy tools.

Using the Services, we do not:

  • Submit grant applications on your behalf — you always review and submit them yourself
  • Act as your agent with government bodies, schools, or grant providers
  • Decide whether you are eligible for a grant, or guarantee any outcome
  • Prevent you from applying to any grant
  • Provide investment, insurance, lending, mortgage, tax, legal, or health advice
  • Move money or initiate transactions

Information in the Services, including anything generated by our AI-assisted features, is for general guidance only and may be incomplete or out of date. You are responsible for reviewing it before you rely on it.

4. Your account

You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.

Let us know promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

5. Fees and payment

Downloading the app, taking the survey, seeing the grants you qualify for, using the budgeting tools, and applying to grants on your own are free.

We charge a success fee only when we help you fill out an application and you receive that funding. The success fee is 15% of the grant funding we help you win. There is no upfront cost, and the fee comes out of the funding you receive, not out of your pocket. If you do not receive funding, you pay nothing.

We identify which applications we helped with inside the product. By using our application help for a grant, you agree to the success fee if that grant is funded. We may bill the fee once funding is confirmed, using the payment or invoicing method we make available to you.

6. Connecting a financial account

Connecting a bank account or credit card through our partner Plaid is optional and only powers the budgeting tools.

The connection is read-only. We do not receive or store your banking credentials, and we cannot move your money. For more detail on how we handle this data, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Acceptable use

When you use the Services, you agree not to:

  • Provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Use the Services for anything unlawful, or to apply for funding you know you are not eligible for
  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours
  • Copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or resell any part of the Services
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on our systems
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to compromise the security of the Services

8. Grant information and outcomes

Grant information in the Services comes from publicly available sources and is provided for convenience. Eligibility rules, deadlines, and award amounts are set by the organizations offering the grants and can change without notice.

We do not guarantee that you will qualify for or receive any grant. Final decisions rest entirely with the awarding bodies, and you are responsible for the accuracy and submission of your own applications.

9. Intellectual property

The Services, including our software, content, branding, and design, are owned by Hi Finance or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for their intended purpose.

You may not use our name, logo, or brand without our written permission.

10. Third-party services

The Services rely on third parties, including Plaid for financial connections and the organizations that offer grants. We are not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their decisions. Your use of a third-party service may be governed by that party's own terms.

11. Disclaimers

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Hi Finance is not a bank, lender, investment adviser, tax adviser, or law firm. Nothing in the Services is professional financial, tax, or legal advice. You should seek advice from a qualified professional for your specific situation.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hi Finance and its founders, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost grants, lost funding, or lost data, arising from your use of the Services.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Hi Finance harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Services, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

14. Termination

You can stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Services in a way that creates risk for us or others.

Success fees owed for funding you have already received survive termination. Sections that by their nature should continue (including fees owed, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) survive as well.

15. Changes to the Services and these Terms

We may update the Services and these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. For material changes, we will provide notice through the product, email, or another reasonable method.

Continuing to use the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Alberta for any dispute that is not otherwise resolved.
